The following links contain important information for HIPAA officers, administrators, and other dental professionals working in offices using telehealth. While the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is not imposing penalties for HIPAA noncompliance in implementing telehealth procedures - this is not a free-for-all. Compliance with HIPAA is still required for dental facilities, including an up-to-date written risk analysis and appropriate safeguards. Your patients will still expect that your facility is doing everything possible to protect their health information, even if the OCR is relaxing some of their penalties. We need our patients to trust that dental facilities continue to hold their health and private information as a top priority.
